HoundWars 3D

HoundWars 3D

The original HoundWars that never saw the light of the day, HoundWars is a tech demo done by Hao and me to show off some crazy shaders. Due to time constraint, we never did manage to develop any gameplay. That said, we managed pass with flying colors thanks to the cyber look and a self-narrating commentary feature (Thanks, MS Mary).

My responsibilities for HoundWars 3D includes setting up the basic Ogre framework (UnderDog Engine), integrating LUA into the framework(every single aspect seen on the screen is scripted, no recompilation required) , the "wavy" 1s and 0s effect, as well as the rippling effect.

USO

In this game, you suck =D (people). U.S.O is final year project in NYP that both Nigel and I worked on. My responsibilities for this game includes the simple 2D art assets (my favourite being the ERP in the background), the entire GUI system(100% customizable in LUA), as well as the bloom shader effect. This project is created using OGRE.

Bashy Bashy: Bully from Earth

BashyBashy

Bashy Bashy is the first 3D game I was involved in, and also the first project I worked together on with Jon(and Deng and Damien). As our first 3D game (OpenGL), Bashy Bashy is the game we feel the most connection to, and to me, personally, marks the start of me constantly learning programming from Jon for a long time to come. Thanks Jon.

Bashy Bashy, as we look at it now, is seriously flawed. Most people playing the game couldn't get past the first level. Here at Ignite, however, we learn from our mistakes; please look forward to a possible remake in the future. ( FYI, Bashy Bashy is the only student project to ever feature a proper boss 20 times the character's size in my 3 years in NYP; the potential for this game is limitless ;) )

My responsilities for this project includes the combat system, the particle system, creating textures for the game level, as well as modeling and animating our main character, good o'l Todd.

Shrouded in Grey

SIG is a work-in-progress beat em' up by Jon and me. Due to several reasons, we have decided to put this project on hold and focus on flash games for the time being. Please look forward to the release of this game in the future (by future, I mean after I've served my country for 2 years, and after my university education... boy, that's quite some time).

The above image is the concept for some the the characters in the game. Since we don't really know any artists, we have to be self sufficient; combined with the fact that I have an interest in drawing manga characters, I self-trained myself to come up with the above character concept. It is not professional by any means, but I am proud of it (I've pain-stakingly drawn the first character more than 10 times with absolutely no experience at drawing; gone through 4 major makeovers, before arriving at this result; this experience really make me respect artists so much more). If anyone reading this wants to give me advice on how to draw, please, please do, I'd really appreciate it =)

In addition, I usually make my own art assets for my flash games :), once again, not professional art by any means, but I like making my own graphics, and I intend to keep improving on that.
